Sonar SLAM explained simply
A 3D sonar constantly scans the surroundings. The computer on board assembles a 3D map from this in real time and works out at the same time where the drone is within it. Because sound also travels through murky water, this works without any visibility. The stereo camera can also measure distances directly in the image.

For hobby pilots
A professional tool, not a leisure gadget. It is interesting all the same: anyone who has ever lost their bearings in a murky gravel-pit lake knows how valuable such a map would be. Until then, our guide What is an underwater drone? will help you get started.
